Our Origins

At Danliris, our strong heritage has been instrumental in laying the foundations for our ongoing success within Indonesia’s textile and garment industry. Having evolved from our humble beginnings during the 1920s as a home industry business established by the Tjokrosaputro family, we were recognised for the quality of our batik products as well as for our integrity in doing business.

Taken from the Javanese words udan liris, meaning drizzle, the name was chosen to symbolise Danliris’ success is through maintaining the well-being and development of our employees, shareholders, and the local community

1920s
Beginnings of Dan Liris
Starting off as a home industry by the Tjokosaputro family, engaged in textile production thus the origins of Dan Liris are born
1970
Batik Keris Established
The patriarch of the family business Mr Kasom Tjokrosaputro establishes PT Batik Keris.
1974
Dan Liris Established
Beginning with just a weaving division, the company is formally established
1976
Garment Manufacturing
Expanding its capacity and moving further downstream, the company moves into spinning, finishing, printing and garment manufacturing.

1997-8
Challenging Times
The Asian Financial Crisis in 1997 followed by the civil unrest in Indonesia in 1998 presented a period of immense challenges for the company from which it emerged stronger and even more determined to be an industry leader.
2004
New Leadership
In 2004, Ibu Michelle Tjokrosaputro becomes the CEO of the company as the third generation of the family and ushers in a new era of modern, dynamic leadership.
2020
Renewed Vision & Mission
Looking to the future and the importance of sustainability in every aspect of the business, Dan Liris renews its vision and mission to be a source of joy to stakeholders with an integral focus on sustainability in terms of people as well as planet.

Our Leadership

Dan Liris is proud to be led by a team of women and to have women in management positions throughout the various divisions and layers of the company. This helps contribute to long term decision planning and developing policies to make the company a family friendly workplace that supports its employees in their personal and professional development.

Under the leadership of CEO Mrs Michelle Tjokrosaputro and Chairwoman Mrs I.P. Elizabeth Sindoro, Danliris continues to go from strength to strength as evident from our impressive portfolio of local and international brands in addition to our 7,000-strong workforce.

Our Future

Looking to the future, the company will continue to deepen its focus on environmental sustainability and creating products that are aligned with the values of the brands that we serve. Through ongoing research and innovation, we are streamlining our production processes to reduce and utilise waste as well as offer a range of materials derived from natural and renewable resources.

Dan Liris will also continue to focus on the health, well-being and personal development of its employees who are integral to the overarching vision of long term sustainability. As we continue to invest in the most advanced technology for our manufacturing processes, simultaneously we invest in the training and education of our staff to ensure their role in the future growth of the company.
